THE STORY
Stories begin with conversation.
Our Conversation print was inspired by the Stories We Cherish logo, a symbol representing conversation within the Southern African Nguni writing system.
Unlike alphabets where individual letters represent sounds, Nguni symbols communicate complete words and ideas.
The symbol we chose represents conversation.
A reminder that stories are not told in isolation; they are shared between people
THE SYMBOL
The Nguni writing system is a culturally significant form of communication from Southern Africa. Historically, knowledge of these symbols was held by specific knowledge keepers, including elders, medicine people and those entrusted with preserving cultural understanding.
The symbol became the foundation of our print, representing our belief that storytelling can open conversations and create new ways of seeing African identity.

THE SCENT
NGUNI BREW
The Conversation print is rooted in the idea that stories are shared between people. I wanted the scent to carry that same feeling. A feeling of something familiar, warm and connected to the conversations and moments that make a place feel like home.
Rooibos became the inspiration.
Whenever I smell rooibos, I’m transported back to South Africa. It reminds me of a season filled with learning, growth, and the feeling that home can exist in places you never expected.
Rooibos feels inherently social to me. A cup shared, a conversation started, time spent together.
Nguni Brew is my interpretation of that feeling; a warm, familiar scent inspired by the places, people and conversations that have shaped me.
